What a cool opportunity for three Active Duty personnel!

I was blessed to have drawn a California Tule Bull Elk tag, and I had never hunted elk before so I reached to two friends of mine that were also stationed at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.  These two gentlemen accompanied me for roughly four days in the field at Fort Hunter Liggett as we sought out our prey. On Christmas Eve, 2014, we decided to give it a rest.  Although some might think that we wasted an opportunity, I would disagree.  The bond that Bill, Mike, and I established was so incredible.  We were able to share stories around a camp fire, drink fine whiskey, and smoke cheap cigars.  Even if we had harvested a bull elk, I don’t know what experience would have been more memorable and moving.  I hope to one day experience that same deep sense of camaraderie and fellowship…and I hope you do, too.   God bless, y’all!
