The Story behind the Lazy Lab Hunting Club Mission

These are the, well, ‘foundations’ of Mend The Heart Foundation. Launched in 2008 by then enlisted sailors Matthew Mitchelson and David J (DJ) Desrosiers as the Lazy Lab Hunting Club, the goal was to help the under-funded and under-staffed VA clinics by providing an alternate means to dispel the stresses of returning from war. Watch ‘Resilience’ to hear it from their own telling.

Washington Pheasant Hunt

Nestled next to Spokane, WA, the Double-Barrell Ranch is an ideal place to gather together, cook good food, fellowship in the lodge, and then depart for a world class bird hunt. Join the team as we host several disable veterans for 2 nights in a wonderful lodge, plenty of great food, and a bountiful hunt.

Rolling Whitetail Expedition

A great bow hunting expedition with a 14 year veteran Todd Frantom. See how “the sounds and smell of nature” helped Mr. Frantom deal with his PTSD.

Lisa Bodenburg's Experience with Lazy Lab Hunting Club

As a Marine door gunner Ms. Bodenburg has seen her share of things no one should have to see. Check out this interview held at the Chapel of the Four Chaplains to learn why she’s giving of her time and efforts to serve with Mend The Heart to mend the hearts of others.
